Friday, November 30, 2012 at 3:00 AM The holiday season can be a tricky one to navigate. Oh let's face it, LIFE can be tricky to navigate, especially if we think we're the ones in charge and perfection with a capital P is the ultimate mission. We make a list and check it twice, three times, to infinity... and then what? Things change or don't go as we planned! The only thing we can control is how we perceive the changes.
Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2:20 PM I wrote a novel this month. Wow! Do you know how much fun that is to write? I'll do it again... I wrote a novel this month! Before the tingle wears off and I invite my inner critic and editor to step back in (btw - I sent them on vacation for the month of November and highly recommend it), I wanted to share the delight of accomplishment with you.
Monday, November 12, 2012 at 8:39 AM I love the creative process more than just about anything... actually, I love PROCESS. Period. It is not typically in the end result where I learn the most, but usually in the midst... in the process.
Being, Meditation, creativity, listening, self care Friday, November 2, 2012 at 8:46 AM Part of my morning ritual these days is spending time in meditation followed by reading from my dear friend and mentor, Christine Valters Paintner’s brilliant book, The Artist’s Rule: nurturing your creative soul with monastic wisdom. This practice is providing a lovely container for both my creative side (as I embark upon NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month) and my deepening spiritual practice (after returning from a 10-day silent meditation retreat.)
Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 1:46 PM The man I share a table with at the airport café snacks on an oversized cookie, takes a quick swig from his paper-cupped coffee with eyes glued to his computer and a cell phone juggled under his chin. Across the way, a mother loudly chastises her young child for dropping muffin crumbs on the ground. She scowls at her spouse and shoos him away to get more napkins as she smoothes her own perfectly coiffed appearance. Outside in the concourse, people rush at (and by) me like flying grains of wheat released from an overflowing silo.
