live it to give it is all about love and connection. Being authentic. Living our lives and sharing it with others. Life is messy and so is this blog. Somedays my organized coach self shows up. Other days it's my vulnerable author. There's a mom that lives inside me alongside a wife, friend, social justice activist, creative muse, ponderer extraordinaire, and multitude of others. I'll introduce you to people who inspire me and offer a peek into my world that very likely intersects with your world. In other words, I will share life in its full, glorious mess with you. I'm honored you're here and I hope you'll come back soon!!  Cheers! Kayce

Coming out of the Rabbit Hole

Dang, it’s hard sometimes to practice what I preach (living compassionately, taking risks, and stepping wholeheartedly into who I am). But man oh man, it is so important, essential even. Truth is when the heat gets turned up and I really want to run, hide, or cave in (i.e. do the “easy” thing) that’s when it’s most important to show myself compassion by slowing down and paying close attention to what I need.

Nourishment of the Heart

"Deep nourishment doesn't happen by simply reading a self-help book or taking a sabbatical once every five years. Care needs to be infused within us, until it becomes as natural as breathing. Just as breath nourishes and keeps life flowing, self-care allows us to deeply nurture our personal mind, body and spirit. Through this practice, we are better equipped to offer unhindered care and compassion to those we encounter in our work and the world."

Guest Post at "Abbey of the Arts"

There is a simple yet powerful question I pose to participants at the beginning (and throughout) each Live it to Give it class. What do you need right now? Upon asking the question, we begin to engage our internal non-judgmental witness and listen deeply while closely observing. What do I really need?

The question itself can stir up all sorts of thoughts and responses. That’s selfish. I’m selfish. I can’t do that. What if…?

Being TAO... or Honoring the Lump

Earlier this week I was in the midst of a brainstorming session with a friend when she mentioned an exercise she wanted to use in an upcoming retreat. She suggested the participants focus on their bodies and allow an image to arise in their minds. Before she could even finish her thought, a word popped into my head. LUMP...

Guest Post at "All Things Girl"

Today I am delighted to be the featured guest at All Things Girl - an informative blog designed to "allow women a place to showcase their stuff - their artwork, photography, poetry, prose, articles on health, reviews, thoughts on business, creative endeavours and so much more." (Don't let the title turn you 'guys' off, there's lots of relevant info you won't want to miss. I even managed to sneak in a photo from my main man, Bill Hughlett... so check it out!)

The post is called Giving What You Live & Living What You Give and here's a tiny snippet...

"We can’t give from reserves we don’t possess. If we aren’t generous with ourselves then it’s nearly impossible to be authentically generous with others. When I’m down on myself and curled up in a ball, it’s hard to stretch out a hand to someone else in need." - KSH

Hop on over and explore your thoughts (and mine) on generosity, scarcity, and more. Click here pronto!
