Nourishment of the Heart
Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 12:01 AM "Deep nourishment doesn't happen by simply reading a self-help book or taking a sabbatical once every five years. Care needs to be infused within us, until it becomes as natural as breathing. Just as breath nourishes and keeps life flowing, self-care allows us to deeply nurture our personal mind, body and spirit. Through this practice, we are better equipped to offer unhindered care and compassion to those we encounter in our work and the world."

Dear Lovely One,
Photo Credit: Steven Elliott via Abbey of the ArtsThis week finds me away on a 10-day silent meditation retreat. It's a brand new (& potentially stretching) experience for me, and also one that's been calling my name for several months. As I continue to immerse myself in this calling to nurture care and restoration in others, it becomes increasingly essential that I practice what I profess. So, I'm currently off being "infused" with care and sending loving kindness to you as well.
I invite you to take a moment today and ponder where and how you might be called to nourish your own mind, body, and spirit. Please know (& acknowledge) that you, too, deserve a generous dose of rest and restoration!!
And one more invitation... from the inimitable Christine Valters Paintner: An Invitation To Poetry
What is it that you are called to welcome within? As for me...
I am called to welcome the silent flutters of my heart.
Please return on Monday, October 22 for a very special guest post from Debra Smouse.
Live it to Give it,
Poetry,
self care
