Why is taking our own advice often the hardest thing to do? It’s typically quite simple to see what someone else may need in a given situation, but often significantly more challenging to remember the same for ourselves. It reminds me of that old adage, Do as I say and not as I do; which by the way makes me cringe every time I think about it.
I wrote a novel this month. Wow! Do you know how much fun that is to write? I'll do it again... I wrote a novel this month! Before the tingle wears off and I invite my inner critic and editor to step back in (btw - I sent them on vacation for the month of November and highly recommend it), I wanted to share the delight of accomplishment with you.
Lock ‘n load. The times they are a changin’. Summer turns to fall. Silence turns to voice. Pounding turns to stillness. Always, we are changing. Today, I’m trying a new writing technique. I’ve set my timer, put on my sassy cowboy hat and loaded a little Don Henley on the iPod shuffle. Hmmm. Who knows what will transpire... and does it really matter?
When I first started writing and blogging (more than 8 years ago), I could say anything—highs, lows, blurts & brags. It was anonymous, fluid and raw. I would wake up in the morning—random days, nothing planned or scheduled—and simply check in with myself. What did I want to say? It was like asking what I'd share with a dear friend—one who wouldn't censor or judge. If I could say anything, what would I say today?
