A Winding Journey

As I read today's Advent reflection from Birthing the Holy including a poem by Linda Hogan*, I was reminded of a SoulCollageĀ® card I created awhile back. Pulling it out, I began to write and noticed the weavings of this season begin to take shape and offer me this message:

I am one who stands at the threshold.
The cave of death surrounds me - death to past.
The Ancient bones beckon me and tell me to follow my dreams. I am in good company.
If I will raise my eyes to the heavens, I will see the light ahead.

It has been a winding journey - and will continue to be,
but the Ancients are with me and the river is flowing -
"It doesn't look back to where it's been or wonder who ahead of it has polished the rough stones.
It is following the path in its fullness"
*
And it's time for me to do the same.

Don't look back.
Raise your eyes and see the expanse before you.
The Ancients are with you. God is with you.
Lift your eyes to the heavens -
to new life.

To make a collage, I need to take the time to listen to the videos, and I have not yet... But seeing your collage looked so much like something I feel inside of me...

Lucy, can you tell me which book the poem that you posted by Linda Hogan is from...the one that has the line: DON'T LOOK BACK...

I think you said it was from Linda or it might be yours. I may want to get permission to use that in a book so trying to track it down. I googled but didn't have much luck. Sorry to come at you like this in a post but couldn't track down your e-mail. I long to have more time to make things like soul cards, wisdom cards, whatever cards... I do stop by your blog now and then and love it but I don't usually leave my footprints.
Be Well.

i'm delighted you "left your footprints" here today!! xo

Journey

The mouth of the river may be beautiful.
It doesn't remember the womb of its beginning.
It doesn't look back to where it's been
or wonder who ahead of it polished the rough stones.
It is following the way
in its fullness,
now like satin,
now cresting,
waters meeting, kindred
to travel gathered together,
all knowing it flows
one way, shining or in shadows.
And me, the animal
I ride wants to drive forward,
its longing not always my own,
overrunning its banks and bounds,
edgeless, pilling along the way
because, as I forget,
it knows everything
is before it.

-Linda Hogan

Lucy-

I've read this post again this a.m. and feel so moved by it once again. The past is SOOOOOO not the place to dwell. I/we, I anyway:) want to face toward the future, not for counting the days but for seeing the beauty of new beginnings, of opportunity, of fulfillment.
