where dreams & reality collide

“For it is in giving that we receive.” St. Francis of Assisi

wish lives. dream lives. what is next? what is past? there is so much to consider as I sit here this morning. last week my “wish” life collided with my real life and it took my breath away. in god's perfect way, it snuck up on me and I didn’t even realize what had happened until it was nearly over. how often is that the case in life?

last saturday night, I sat next to my dear husband in front of four couples who had just completed the first soltura couples’ workshop (that i had the privilege of co-writing and co-facilitating.) the couples snuggled. they glowed. they danced...hope filled their eyes. they had worked hard. they had discovered a “third way”. during the course of our four days together, they had indeed fled. they fought with each other, with themselves, with me. but in the end, they stayed. they were present. willing. open to possibility. it was miraculous to watch.

and what of my personal “collision” you might ask? as I addressed them for one official last time, tears filled my eyes and my heart welled with joy and gratitude. “thank you,” I said. “this is a dream come true for me.” even then I wondered from where did those words come? I sensed deeply that they were not just sentimental ramblings, but words that felt whole and true. it was not until the next morning as I was talking with another facilitator that I remembered the prophecy I received in the spring four years ago. in it were the words, “follow your dreams. find out what they are. do them with bill. save the families.” there was much more to that story, but even as I write this morning I realize that even now I am overcome by amazement at God’s grace and I feel the beauty and power of that collision of dream and reality.

I did not know I was on a path to dream fulfillment. I was just following my heart. the twists and turns were many. the road was long. the goal not even in sight. it snuck up on me and I didn’t even realize what had happened until it was nearly over. how often is that the case in life?

what dreams are brewing for you today? will you be open, willing & present to see them? will you be open to the possibility of a new way?

may the god of grace be with you today. peace.

So pleased to see you back, and so very, very happy for you and the couples who were part of your joyous collision. What a blessed experience. And 'grace' is an apt word.

Welcome back Lucy,

I've been eagerly waiting to hear how the workshop unfolded for you and bill. Im so inspired by how your dream was made true. In the words of Tori Amos, "I have always wanted that myself." I love your amazement at God's grace. What dawned on me was that we embody Christ Consciousness in these moments of presence and inspiration (in spirit). We become this very thing...we become that grace. For me...that is Christ's message for us all. And so...I am amazed by YOUR grace Lucy. Thou art that. Congratulations! Give yourself a hug from me and one for bill.

I often have found myself speaking a truth that I didn't know I knew until I heard myself say it. I believe that is often the case in life.

We don't consciously know (speak) our true dreams - they are far too fragile and can so easily act like mist, there we see it, there we don't. I believe that we just generally head west, just like the pioneers who had no idea exactly where they were going to end up, but they'd just know it when they found it.

I think one of the biggest challenges is life is to stay open to the possibilities, to actually see that other door/window open when another has closed. Takes faith.

Woohoo! (Is that a proper response in a spiritual and intellectual conversation?) What a grand blessing you have facilitated for you and your clients. Isn't it grand when the love of God through (wo)man is so abundant that it spills all over a bunch of folk?!

Sometimes, good things indeed happen to good people.

Yay!!

I was wondering as I read this whether your emptiness of the previous weeks has been a making way for the filling. That seems to happen a bit in hindsight, don't you think?

I'm happy for you, Lucy Yellow :)

Oh, I like that "emptiness/filling" thing from Sue:)

oh, it is wonderful to be back in the fold of blogging wisdome :-)

SS--it's odd but when i read your comment "congrats on your dream fulfillment", i had this urge to check it off some imaginary list. it sounded so final to me (even though i realize those were not your sentiments). "dream fulfillment? check!" thanks for the reminder that i do not want to close off doors of possibility!!

Rebecca--i am delighted you stopped by and left this thoughtful, engaging comment...i love the idea of "heading west" and "knowing when we will find it"...speaking dreams out loud is a fragile thing.

GD--"woohoo" is one of the best possible responses i can imagine!! that about sums it up!!! thank you.

sue--your hindsight/insight is fabulous...we do have to empty out in order to be filled again and again, don't we?

ss--you are a delightful conversationalist :-) xoxooxoxo

Lucy, your beautiful post made me think of grace too. I just read a few minutes ago, on a friend's blog, some words from Archbishop Fulton Sheen: "We are recipients before we are donors", and then I saw your quote from St. Francis: "For it is in giving that we receive". It's like a never-ending circle of grace.
