Romancing the Soul

Today I share with you the gorgeous words of my friend and teaching partner, Christine Valters Paintner. As I was reading this excerpt on her recent newsletter, I found myself longing to go on this adventure until I awakened from my dreamlike state and realized I am helping create this luscious journey. Whether you're able to dust off your passport and join us in Vienna (yes?) or not... I think you'll enjoy a moment of respite while reading this love letter to the city that inspired countless imaginative souls and artists. It's a wonderful way to begin the new year!

Romancing Your Soul in Vienna

Belvedere Gardens - ViennaIt is not an overstatement to say that I will be forever changed by these last months living in Vienna, an ancestral city, but also one of such beauty spilling forth from everywhere I looked. Each day I would walk down the street in wide-eyed wonder.  Vienna is a very romantic city, meaning that it seduces you with its sensual delights, woos you with its imperial architecture and statues on every corner with stories to tell.  Classical music, church bells, horse and carriages clopping down the old cobblestone streets, the beauty of an afternoon pause with coffee and pastry, lingering over life’s sweetness.  It calls to your heart, the only lover needed is you.

Romance your soul this spring.  Come to Vienna and reawaken yourself to the beauty of the world and what is possible.  Remember what slow savoring can awaken deep within you.  Walk in a foreign landscape as a way of encountering the stranger within waiting to be welcomed.

Imagine if your “resolution” for the next year wasn’t about “improving” yourself, but about rediscovering the great love within you for life and cultivating ways to pay attention to the sacred moments offered to us each day.

Kayce and I have such a wonderful week in store for you of seeing in new ways, savoring life, moving slowly, and sharing in a small band of fellow pilgrims. We will inspire you with writing and photography practices as well as other contemplative ways of being in this city of delights. The dates are April 6-13, 2013 and a wonderful group is already forming.  Two spaces are left, perhaps one is for you?  We can't wait to welcome you.
