#6 Big Blessings Come in Small Sizes
by guest poster, Tara L. Duckworth of Solitude & Soul
October has always been a very special and busy month for me. Fifteen years ago on the day after my birthday, I gave birth to my son. This year 3 days after my son’s 15th birthday, I gave birth to my sweet baby girl. The world instantly looked different to me, very different than it did 15 years ago and even very different than it did the day before. The past 6 weeks since having my daughter have passed very quickly and now we are headed into the busiest time of year. As a retail business owner and a parent, I find myself focusing on taking the time to enjoy the blessings I have in front of me.
My daughter has given me many very special gifts, but the one most dear to me right now (as we move into the hustle and bustle of the holiday season) is that of quality time. I find she teaches me the enjoyment of simply being. She has taught me the importance of taking the time to just sit, enjoy and watch. I find myself staring at her in awe whether she is sleeping, nursing or wide-awake. I am captivated by the little faces she makes, the coos she speaks and the contentment in just knowing she has all she needs in my arms in that moment.
I have many blessings in my life. Sometimes I find the biggest ones are actually the smallest in size. I have no doubt that this little girl will teach me many lessons; however, I am taking the time to learn these gifts she is giving me right now.
What simple gifts are right in front of you this holiday season?

Tara Leah Duckworth was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1981. After dabbling in many activities, Tara knew in her heart that creativity and helping others would be the pavement of the path she would walk. In 1999 Tara graduated grade 12 and also gave birth to her son Ethan. While continuing her education in Psychology and Youth Care Work, Tara raised her son.
After an emotional internal battle with herself in 2008 Tara found exactly what she was meant to do and Solitude & Soul was born. Creating jewelry became her creative outlet and creating Lasting Impressions memorial pieces for those facing loss became her passion.
Tara opened the Solitude & Soul storefront in 2012 and feels blessed be able to never have to “work” at work. In 2013 Tara married her best friend Rhett and most recently welcomed their daughter, Aisley, into the world.
