#11 Through a Child's Eyes

by guest author Heather Robison

Have you ever looked at life through the eyes of a three-year-old?

I know what you're thinking, yes of course you have, you were once three, right? What I mean to say is as an adult have you ever slowed down enough to really look at your day from the perspective of a three-year-old?If we just slow down, breathe in the slices of simple moments like a child would, I can guarantee all of our lives would be enriched for the better.

As adults, we seem to rush through our day from one task to the next. Throw holiday festivities into the mix and our days become a big social overload. As an adult, I tend to want to say YES to everything during this time of year, sometimes against my better judgement...only learning my lesson when I crumble into bed at the end of the day.

I call it “Domestic Diva Syndrome”. Many of us want to appear as the DIVA with everything held together with a big red bow. With a three-year-old in tow things do not always work out as planned...even when we have visions of “Pinterest worthy” projects around every turn. Projects constructed on a whim with little effort, many of us don’t realize the endless hours “designers” encountered to bake and stage those delicious treats or elaborate Christmas decor.

It’s really this simple…STOP!!!

It’s okay to say no!You can’t skip every social event, just pick the ones most important to you. Homemade gifts are my favorite. Take some much needed crafting time to create memorable and meaningful gifts for loved ones. Just slow down! Take the advice from my three-year-old: it’s okay to have a picnic in the living room in your jammies...chocolate chips really do taste better in your waffles and going to the park every single day is great for your spirit!

This season I’m going to take the lead from my three-year-old and slow down the pace.
