a meme award for me
oh my my my. see what happens when i get busy for a few days. i almost missed out on this lovely award given to me by blisschick. i am quite honored by this bestowing since i know she has many followers of great esteem and delight!!
this is the meme blog award and here are the rules:
1. Share seven tidbits about myself.
2. Share the award with seven blog friends!
1. my middle name is dee and in the sixth grade i wanted to be called deedee (for about a day.)
2. crunch n munch - original is my favorite guilty pleasure. i don't share so don't even ask!
3. i was the chairman of a best-selling cookbook (see #4). btw--it's really awesome!!!
4. i was a member of the junior league, wore pearls and power suits.
5. my undergraduate degree is in accounting...does that sound like me?
6. my son and i plan to go skydiving in the next year...how about this?
7. i hate tagging people for things even though i love getting awards. does that make me selfish or considerate?
if you read here (and comment...see sue's recent post on blog etiquette) feel free to grab an award or play the meme or both...just let me know what you decide to do. the more the merrier!!!

Dear DeeDee - oh, I'm glad you didn't settle on that - although if you were a DeeDee you would be a good one!
Can vouch for the cookbook - excellent recipes!
I'm going to go look up Sue's blog etiquette post and I haven't decided whether I'll grab the meme or not:)
xoxoxo
Love the cookbook!
Looking forward to the resuls of the skydiving. What a fantastic idea.
ss--deedee? lucy? just me?
thought you'd like sue's post :-) xoxo
tess--if you don't have the cookbook, it's definitely worth a trip to amazon.com :-) (& no, i don't receive royalties!)
A cookbook I don't own already? Is it possible? I'll have to look it up with these stellar recommendations. I am seriously considering playing the meme tomorrow or the next day.
barbara--waiting for your meme...have you checked out the cookbook yet?
lucy, I checked junior league cookbooks out at Amazon and there was quite a list. Are you associated with the Puget Sound book, the international centennial book, another?
barbara--if you click on the link in my post, it should take you right to "simply classic" the junior league of seattle :-)
How did I not know your middle name or your favorite guily pleasure? Seems like our conversations have been diving much too deep to learn some of the superfluous, silly things about one another. (and I can live with that) :-)
It is indeed a great cookbook! When is the skydiving planned for?
xoxo C
Here is a bit of trivia about "Dee."
Why IS your middle name Dee? It was probably because a sibling observed during a "naming" discussion that father, mother, sister, and brother each had a name that began with "D." "It (we didn't know genders prior to birth then) should have a name that begins with D!" And indeed "it" became a fine woman with a middle name that begins with "D."
C--i had to put the skydiving in writing to make sure it happens :-) i'm thinking some time around my birthday...
GEEZER---why oh why oh why is this the first time i have ever heard of this???? i am astonished, teary, joyous and amazed by this little revelation.
i guess maybe instead of dee dee, i should have been dee dee dee dee dee!!
so glad you broke your vow of silence and commented here!!!!! xoxoxo
I'm glad to see Geezer on line too and glad to be reminded of that little known fact about the "d" business. I remember it with G's recalling it but had totally forgotten that naming identity piece.
It makes me more and more aware of the fact that until we actually write out bits and pieces of our lives to document them that they are lost - as not being next door neighbors the details just don't come through. Blogging means so much to me for this reason. I am constantly made aware of our family history and of idiosyncrasies of friends when reading what they have to say about life.
Our parents were not detail minded when it came to sharing family history - I don't know that any of their friends were either. I regret not knowing our family history in more detail, in fact even in "some" detail!
Thanks L & G:))

SS--i used to think i couldn't remember anything of detail from my childhood. i continue to be thrilled and amazed by the little snippets that show up in the most unexpected ways.
i hope we are breaking the pattern of not sharing details with our children. mine probably wish i would stop (if they even notice), but hopefully they will be grateful to have some record of our lives!
always glad to be sharing this with you!! xoxoox
