"In loving ourselves, we love the world. For just as fire, rock and water are all made up of molecules, everything, including you and me, is connected by a small piece of the beginning." --Mark Nepo

As a chemist by education, the word "molecule" jumps out at me. It is amazing, really amazing the immense variety in which atoms combine to form molecules and the variety of ways molecules interact with one another.
Did you know there is a phenomenon called "quorum sensing" by which bacteria send out molecular messages to determine if there are any more molecules out there of the same kind so they can work together to make their environment more amenable and get to work on their "mission"?
In some marvelous way, we are all connected.
And as a non-chemist, the word "love" jumped out at me. I've recently become addicted to Twitter and through it, have made many more interesting connections (can one make a living out of surfing the web??)
I'd just come from a blog new to me to find a comment on it from someone I know, having already seen a similar coincidence earlier today and revelling in the connectedness of us all.
For this reason I was literally just exclaiming aloud "I LOVE life" (to the bemusement of feline Lucy next to me) 30 seconds ago when I opened your blog post.
And right now, at this moment, I do love life!
Mark Nepo - I can see why you enjoy reading his book - lovely poetry.
The photo - I never tire of sunsets either....they really do say to me, I don't want to go, I'm hanging on, ohhhh, come with me. Oops, I'd better be careful the "night" people are beginning to make me think they have something special in that "night" stuff:)
Thanks, Barbara for your added insights. Very very very cool!
barbara--your description of molecules reminds me of blogging as we
"determine if there are any more (bloggers/thoughts/words) out there of the same kind so they can work together to make their environment more amenable and get to work on their "mission"?"
thank you for sharing your scientist's mind and enhancing this concept of oneness :-)
tess--so delighted to hear your love of life!!! i always kind of picture myself as your little feline lucy when you experience those moments :-) i have yet to check out twitter...i'm afraid of having one more internet place to engage (read...use up time that might better be used elsewhere :-(
SS--i think sunset might be the time of day that day AND night people could agree upon...
hmmbrd--you took the words right out of my pen!!
